Many of you this year expressed your regrets not to be able to attend this edition of TEFAF in Maastricht. We invite you to discover, or to see again for a few of you, the selection of exceptional works that we have gathered for our seventh participation in this major event in the art-world. This exhibition covers a little more than a century of creation, focusing first on colour with two fauve landscapes by André Derain, Bateaux au Port de Collioure and a seascape at L'Estaque. Surrealism is particularly highlighted with this rare Intérieur métaphysique (1917) by Giorgio de Chirico, an outstanding Femme en révolte (c. 1938)by Joan Miro, a cry against the Spanish War, as well on display works by Max Ernst, Wols, Jean Arp and an invitation to travel with René Magritte. Abstraction is not to be outdone in this selection, from its source, with works from the 1920s by Frantisek Kupka, to the post-war American school including paintings by Franz Kline, Joan Mitchell, Kenneth Noland, and the Second Paris School. Among these great painters of abstraction, we are particularly delighted to have presented an exceptional work by Pierre Soulages never before exhibited to the public, Peinture 181 x 243 cm (triptyque), 28 Janvier 2010. Enjoy your visit.
